The doctors at OVVH are able to perform many surgeries thanks to the hospital's well-stocked surgery suite, which is separated from the primary treatment area. Routine surgeries such as ovariohysterectomies (spays) and orchiectomies (neuters) are commonplace. More involved surgeries are also regularly performed including mass removals, intestinal surgeries, spleen removals, bladder stone removals, eye surgeries and many others. During surgery, the veterinarians and technicians at Oakton-Vienna Veterinary Hospital use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure your pet's safety. Our trained staff uses the following equipment to obtain a complete picture of your pet's vital signs during any procedure requiring anesthesia:
- Electrocardiograph (ECG or EKG) to monitor heart activity.
- Pulse Oximeter to monitor the blood's oxygen (O2) saturation.
- The capnograph completes the picture by monitoring the patient's blood carbon dioxide (CO2) levels.
Experience and equipment work together at OVVH to provide you with the highest safety possible during any necessary surgery.
